Alpine Elementary
Awards Program
Each teacher recognizes the accomplishments of their students within the classroom in a variety of ways.
School-wide, the staff of Alpine Elementary wishes to formally recognize students for their academic performance, citizenship as a student, significant improvement in these areas and positive character traits we reinforce in the classroom.
There are eight Positive Reinforcement Assemblies spread through the year. Teachers nominate students to be awarded certificates in the following categories:
Outstanding Academic Effort, Outstanding Citizenship, Most Improved, and the character trait discussed in class the past month from our 8 Keys of Excellence.
Parents are notified in advance of their child being recognized at the assembly so they may attend. When the student is called up to receive their award and stand on stage the parents are also invited to stand with their child. There are enough assemblies and awards throughout the year for every student to be recognized during the school year. This is not a requirement however. We want each child to be deserving and other students hold this honor in esteem.
Student attendance is another area of recognition at AES. At the last awards assembly we recognized students for both Outstanding and Perfect Attendance. At the quarterly awards assembly we randomly pick a boy and a girl student with outstanding or perfect attendance to receive a new bike and helmet. The bikes are donated by the Alpine Kiwanis Club and the helmets by Alpine Stage-Coach Lions Club.
